Earth Room Performance
Goals of Experiment
- Estimate operating efficiency of Altherma in Earth Room as installed at the Green Garage.
- Develop understanding of ambient temperature ranges that provide optimized heating and cooling functions of the Altherma.
- Review Earth Room airflow path and consider if there may be ways to improve the heat transfer and/or heat transport for improved Altherma performance.
Decisions to be made from Experiment
- Determine if air bypass around the Earth Tubes would have a favorable payback.
- Confirm that Earth Room exhaust fan speed is optimized; otherwise, adjust fan speed.
Expected Outcomes
- Optimized Altherma performance.
- Additional information to be able to share with others that inquire about the Earth Room concept.
