- Radiant Wall System Here is a nice simple radiant wall system for the annex.
- Other
- Insuladd Paint additive This is a ceramic additive that acts as a radiant barrier.
- Meeting with Dan Bertolini (Aero Heating)regarding pex sizing and zoning for annex
- Typically runs 1/2" pex up to 240', temp drop over that length is in the 10-15 degree range.
- Dan prefers to use Uponor PEXa tubing, and has had good response and follow through with their products. The difference between PEXa, PEXb, and PEXc is primarily the manufacturing process, they all meet the same ASTM standards, but Dan explained the installation benefits of PEXa being more flexible, and having a material memory such that in the case of most kinks etc the material can be heated and will return to its original shape.
- Another great tip from experience was to video the pex tubing in place with tape measure located in various spots to identify the PEX location in the concrete should any drilling or fastening to the slab be necessary in the future- without damaging the embeddeded PEX.

- Unico Unichiller scalable, 3 ton, 10+ EER, great technical documentation. "The Unico reverse cycle chiller (RCC) produces water temperatures of 110 – 125 degrees down to 10 F outdoor temperatures. This makes the temperature rise in a RCC system 40 – 50 degrees, like a gas furnace. The DAT in a RCC air system will be 105 – 120 degrees, even at low outdoor temp’s, which will satisfy the indoor thermostat. Water is an excellent heat transfer device. Unlike a gas furnace that at best operates at 95% efficiency (even with the most recent advancement in furnace technology)—the Unico RCC’s COP is 2.3 down to 17 degrees F. COP stands for coefficient of performance and it is a measure of how much energy is input vs. output. In this example, for every 1 KW of electricity input into the RCC—it yields 2.3 KW. That is 230% efficient even at very cold temperatures. That is very impressive and extremely efficient! Mitchell Mechanical has installed them in 6 different residences to date with exciting results."

Roofing Reuse
- Posted request for ideas on Facebook
- Spoke to Tom Hiner (referred by Devan Anderson) He does not know of a reuse for torch down roofing applications- only shingles. This seems to be a common thread- asphalt shingles can be ground for reuse, but no one is currently dealing with the flat roof tear-offs.
- Matt Naimi from Recyclean confirmed that roofing, plaster and drywall continue to be the hardest products to deal with. Regarding the roofing, he knows of no one reusing the old torch down roofing, and is not convinced reuse of asphalt shingles in road work will not create a leaching of chemicals into the soils in the future.
