Research

Kitchen Energy Efficiency / Human Comfort

Oven Insulation

Re-insulate the oven to reduce heat transfer and prevent thermal bridges. Improves comfort and reduces energy costs

  • Ceramic Woven Blanket Insulation
    • Cotronics Corp Ceramic Blanket
      • Also look at moldable sheet of ceramic insulation on same page
    • Installation Suggestions
      • Overlap pieces by two inches to prevent gaps

Remote Compressor

  • Connect all five of the refrigeration compressors to one remote variable speed compressor unit serving all five.
  • Improves comfort and reduces energy costs

Increase the venting capacity above the oven

  • Cut another vent into the soffit above the oven.
  • Increase the size of the exhaust fan.
    • tie both the new soffit vent and the existing hood vent into the same fan.
  • Recommended new vent fan size = TBD (Laurie Catey)
    • Have it controlable variable speed

Air Circulation Fan

  • do this action if you still have issues
  • Provide a small fan to bring make up air into the kitchen area.
  • Could connect to bar area...or to outdoors (downsides is winter)
