Here's a sure sign of spring: our climbing hydrangeas in the backyard are starting to blossom! Thanks to Adrienne Wisok of businesses-in-residence Animal Intuition and Red Panda for snapping the pic.
Here's Stephanie Newell of business-in-residence Green Seeds with Susan Murphy. Susan, who's been a Green Garage resident since 2012, is getting ready to open Pages, her brand-new bookstore in North Rosedale Park, and Stephanie's been helping her stock the shelves!
It's craft day for Will and Dakarai of nonprofit-in-residence Detroit Food Academy! They're doing some demonstration brand design as part of their work developing young leaders in Detroit through good food & entrepreneurship education.
The Labs group, the folks who set up, maintain, and improve upon the Green Garage's building systems, presented on Friday during community lunch. The subject was their study of the temperature in the annex, the workshop side of the GG that was designed to be cooler than the office side but that ended up getting a little too cold over the winter.
Here are Pam & Keith Owens (center) of business-in-residence Writing it Right For You and colleagues at a panel discussion about African-Americans in science fiction on Saturday. The discussion and book signing was held at Pages, a bookstore started by another Green Garage resident!

This month we're saying so long to our friend Jess Daniel, founder (and outgoing "chief enabler") of nonprofit-in-residence FoodLab Detroit, a thriving community of triple bottom line food businesses. We've been proud to watch Jess and FoodLab grow these last few years and we wish her all the best in her next adventure -- finishing up a dissertation on leadership, social capital, and social movements.
During this week's Friday community lunch presentation, Libby Levy of business-in-residence ProSeeds and Leah Groya of business-in-residence livingLAB presented their work developing protected bike lanes (the region's first) along East Jefferson. (The photo above shows a protected bike lane, which buffers cycling traffic from automotive, in Chicago.)
Here's Leah Groya of livingLAB describing the protected bike lanes she's working on for East Jefferson.
Congratulations to business-in-residence Pill Pouch on being recognized as one of the top five "most valuable patient initiatives" at EyeforPharma, a pharmaceutical conference held this week in Philadelphia!
